I bought another flash – a Nikon SB-600. This photo is from the first photos I took using two flashes. I decided to do the Laptop/Strobist thing as I thought it would be a good place to start. Continue reading The Laptop and Strobist Thing
Toad – Kinopio
This is Toad. he kindly agreed to take some time out from helping Mario and Princess Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom to pose for me. Nice one, Toad.
I’ve just discovered the joys of Strobism – this is from the first bunch of photos I took using my new Nikon SB-900.
Strobist Info: SB-900 @ 1/32 @ 24mm with a homemade 8″ snoot.
This is my totally new blog. There’s nothing there at the moment, but I’m adding to it. I originally created it to post pictures of my travels. I never got around to it. I hope to be proud of it one day.
I’ll attempt the laptop-strobist thing next..
Camera Portrait
My Grandfather recently passed away and digging around at his house I found this Kodak Instamatic 277x, it’s in excellent condition and still works – a perfect example of the kind of thing Grandad would hoard, kept hidden away. He would never throw something away if it still worked.
It was released in the UK in 1977
I didn’t get it framed or even focused exactly how I wanted to but it’s not too bad for a self portrait.

Super Nintendo
This is an early Nineties PAL version of the Super Nintendo. Know as the Super Famicom in Japan, it was the most successful console of the 16-bit era (4th Generation) – one of my favourite consoles.
This one is from a UK Super Mario Allstars version, the console is in mint condition and still has the original box, polystyrene inner and all the leads and manuals.
This photo is the result of my first experiment with lighting. I placed the console on a sheet of white A1-sized card in a darkened room and used another blue sheet of card as the background. I shone a 1 watt LED torch at the background for about half of a 6 second exposure. I was fairly pleased with the result. I straightened it and then uploaded the wrong picture – so it’s a little wonky. I’m going to buy a strobe. Probably a Nikon SB-900.

Beach Photo
Emily at White Sand Beach, Koh Chang. Emily and I had just met in Bangkok and we decided to hop on a bus to Koh Chang. I took this with Emily’s Casio EX-S600 compact. She didn’t know I was taking it.
